چکیده
Surveys carried out along the coast of South Africa revealed the presence of a secondary symbiont of the genus Ellobiophrya Chatton et Lwoff, 1923 found attached to the narrow basal part adoral to the scopula of Mantoscyphidia spadiceae Botes, Basson et Van As, 2001 and M. midae Botes, Basson et Van As, 2001 occurring on the gills of Haliotis spadicea Donovan, 1808 and H. midae Linnaeus, 1758, respectively. Mantoscyphidia branchi Van As, Basson et Van As, 1998 found on the gills of Cymbula H. et A. Adams, 1854 and Scutellastra H. et A. Adams, 1854 species respectively, had the same ellobiophryid species attached to the narrow part adoral to the scopula. This ellobiophryid differs from all the known Ellobiophrya species with respect to morphology of the body, features of the nuclear apparatus, and host preference and is therefore described as a new species, Ellobiophrya maliculiformis sp. n.

A new species of Trichodina (Ciliophora: Peritrichia) from the intestine of the surgeonfish Acanthurus xanthopterus.
A population of a trichodinid (Ciliophora: Peritrichia) was found in the gut of the surgeonfish Acanthurus xanthopterus collected from Hawaii, South Africa and New Guinea and described as a new species. This is only the second record of a trichodinid from the intestine of a marine fish. In all the fish specimens examined, the micro-fauna normally found in other species of the fish family. Acant...

During parasitological surveys in the Okavango Delta and Panhandle in Botswana, two species of climbing perches belonging to the family Anabantidae were investigated for ectoparasites. The fishes were the blackspot climbing perch, Microctenopoma intermedium (Pellegrin) and the manyspined climbing perch, Ctenopoma multispine Peters. Five trichodinid species were found from the skin, fins and gil...

In the present paper, we described the first record of an epibiont protozoan Epistylis sp. Ehrenberg, 1830 (Ciliophora, Peritrichia) attached to Ergasilus chelangulatus Thatcher and Brasil-Sato, 2008, parasite of Pimelodus maculatus Lacépède, 1803 in Brazil, with electron microscope observations. Fish were collected in Veados River, state of São Paulo and the crustacean Ergasilus chelangulatus ...

During parasitological surveys along Yangtze River in China, three species of trichodinid ectoparasites (Ciliophora, Oligohymenophora, Peritrichia) belonging to the genus Tripartiella Lom, 1959, were found from freshwater fishes. Tripartiella obtusa Ergens & Lom, 1970 and Tripartiella macrosoma Basson & Van As, 1987 were found from the same fish host, Rhinogobio typus; and Tripartiella orthoden...
متن کاملAttachment of the peritrich epibiont Zoothamnium intermedium Precht, 1935 (Ciliophora, Peritrichia) to artificial substrates in a natural environment.
Peritrich ciliates are commonly found as epibionts, colonizing living organisms, or attached to non-living substrates in freshwater, estuarine and marine environments. Several species of peritrich epibionts are obligate, which means that they are able to only colonize other organisms, while others are facultative attaching to living or non-living substrates. The peritrich Zoothamnium intermediu...
